Intense pulsed light (IPL) is a minimally-invasive procedure that uses high-intensity pulses of light to remove abnormal pigmentation that results from sun damage, aging and hormonal changes. The treatment provides a healthier, more youthful and smoother appearance. IPL is also used to address prominent superficial blood vessels, broken capillaries, skin redness/rosacea, hair growth and acne. The procedure typically takes 10-20 minutes depending on the condition and part of the body being treated. After the procedure, the skin becomes red for an hour or so, but otherwise, there is no downtime.
IPL Photorejuvenation/Photofacial
Photorejuvenation is used to address pigmentation, age/sunspots, freckles, birthmarks, broken capillaries and overall skin appearance. The IPL technology allows for treatment of pigmentation and vascular imperfections, while improving overall skin appearance. Light pulses penetrate the tissue and create heat, which target the skin imperfection in a controlled manner. The body’s natural process then removes the treated tissue, while collagen and elastic fiber stimulation occurs, resulting in a visible improvement in skin tone and overall appearance. Some skin concerns such as shallow pigmentation and age/sun spots can be cleared with as few as one or two treatments. Typically two to six sessions with two to four weeks in between are needed to achieve optimal results for most skin concerns.
IPL Vein and Vascular Treatment
The IPL can be used to address leg veins, facial veins, and fine capillaries. The IPL creates heat inside the blood vessels, which closes the vein’s walls, eventually causing the vein to disappear. The IPL filter also targets the blood only and none of the surrounding skin.
In many cases, improvement is seen immediately after treatment – full clearance of the veins might take several weeks as they slowly fade away. In the case of multiple veins, two to three sessions in six to eight weeks intervals may be needed. Immediately following treatment, darkening of the vessels will be apparent, with slight redness and swelling along the vessel. You should avoid hot baths and excessive physical exercise for one to two weeks following your treatment. However, you should be able to continue with your normal activities immediately.
IPL Acne Treatment
IPL is a gentle treatment for inflammatory acne that eliminates bacteria within pores, improves skin appearance and reduces acne, while at the same time treats the redness and pigmentation of the skin. The unique Stellar M22™ IPL technology uses light flashes over the treated area, which triggers a biochemical response that will eventually eliminate the bacteria within the pores. During the Stellar M22™ IPL acne treatment, short pulses of intense light are emitted from an applicator onto your skin. The light penetrates through various skin layers and helps eliminate acne bacteria and reduce the inflammation or sebum excess (skin oil) production that characterizes acne. Depending on the acne severity, it may take typically four to six sessions with a recess of four weeks in between treatments to see improvement on your skin.
IPL Hair Removal
The Stellar M22™ IPL Hair Removal treatment is a non-invasive treatment that reduces hair growth, which results in smooth, beautiful skin. Our unique IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology targets the hair follicles, and impairs their ability to grow hair. IPL hair removal is effective on black, brown and red hair. Highly controlled pulses of light are applied on the treated area and are selectively absorbed by the hair follicles beneath the skin surface. The absorbed light heats the hair follicles, which damages the re-growth potential of the follicle – all without damaging the surrounding tissue. The Stellar M22™ IPL Hair Removal treatment is generally administered in a series of four to six sessions that yield excellent long-term results. Significant hair reduction is already visible after the first session.
IPL for Rosacea
